System Requirement

Devin App

  • Operating System: macOS 11 (Big Sur) or higher

  • FileMaker: FileMaker Pro 19 or higher

Devin Server

  • Operating System: Linux compatible with FileMaker Server 19.5.1

  • FileMaker: FileMaker Server 19.5.1 or higher.

  • Hardware: Generally we follow the recommendations for FileMaker Server from the Claris site. We recommend at least 8 gigabytes of ram.

  • Networking: Your Devin Development server needs continuous internet connectivity in order to stay running. Staging/Productions servers only need to be connected to the internet when a Devin Server update is manually triggered from the App's Settings. If you require a non-internet connected version, please upvote the feature request here.

Dependencies

Devin installs all dependencies you would need by itself. You will not need to manually install the following dependencies, but they are displayed here for transparency.

  • FileMaker Data Migration Tool for the right version of FileMaker Server

  • Python 3.12

  • python3.12-venv and python3.12-distutils

  • jq json parser.

  • zipandunzip

For the Devin installer to fetch and set up these dependencies, You will need to ensure that the server has internet access at install time.

Networking

In order to connect your Dev Server with your non-dev servers, you need to consider the following firewall settings:

Devin in an internet exposed environment:

  • The Dev Server must be allowed to initiate outbound HTTPS connections on TCP port 443.

  • Ensure proper DNS resolution for the Prod Server's domain from the Dev Server.

  • Adjust the Prod Servers's firewall to accept inbound HTTPS connections on TCP port 443 specifically from the Dev Server's IP addresses

Devin in an internal environment:

  • The Dev Server must be configured to allow outbound HTTPS connections on TCP port 443.

  • If network segmentation is in place, review and apply the necessary ACLs to permit traffic between Dev and Prod Servers

  • Configure the Dev Server to know the Prod Servers by their IP addresses or hostnames.

Your workstation should be able to reach the Dev Server and the Dev Server should be able to reach non-dev servers.
