# Delete a File from a Branch

Deleting a file from a Branch will delete the file from your development server but will not automatically delete any saved versions for the file. To delete all versions for a file, see [Delete a Version](/guides/versions/delete-a-version.md).

## Guide

To delete a file from a Branch:

1. Go to Branches
2. Selct the file from the list
3. Click the three dots and click Remove

The file must be closed before it can be deleted. To close the file, click the three dots and click Close.
